Indications.

• Treatment of patients with primary pulmonary hypertension and secondary pulmonary hypertension of moderate or severe degree caused by connective tissue diseases or caused by drugs.

• Treatment of patients with secondary pulmonary hypertension of moderate or severe degree caused by chronic inoperable pulmonary embolism.

• Ventavis is intended for inhalation.

  The ready-to-use solution is administered using appropriate inhalation devices (inhalers) in accordance with the recommendations given in the subsection "Instructions for use". It is possible to continue the previous therapy or adjust it depending on the needs of the individual patient (see the section "Interaction with other drugs and other types of interactions").

  • Adult patients

  The recommended dose is 2,5 mcg or 5 mcg of inhaled iloprost (corresponding to the dose of medication in the inhaler tube). Treatment begins with a low dose of 2,5 mcg for the first inhalation, and moves to a dose of 5 mcg for the second inhalation. In case of poor tolerance of the dose of 5 mcg, it should be reduced to 2,5 mcg.

  The dose corresponding to a series of inhalations should be administered 6 - 9 times a day depending on the needs and tolerance of each specific patient.

  Depending on the required dose in the tube and canister of the inhaler, the duration of each series of inhalations is approximately 5 - 10 minutes.
