Composition

Dosage form

Powder for preparing a solution for injections.

Pharmacological group

Antitumor antibiotics. ATC code L01D C03.

indications

Reduction of subjective and objective symptoms associated with the following diseases: chronic lymphatic leukemia, chronic myelogenous leukemia, stomach cancer, colorectal cancer, cancer of the lungs, pancreas, liver, cervix, endometrium, breast, head and neck , bladder.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to mitomycin. Thrombocytopenia, blood clotting disorders and increased bleeding. Pregnancy and lactation period.

Dosage and administration

Used by adults in specialized medical institutions. The dose and duration of treatment are set individually, depending on the severity of the disease, condition and age of the patient.

Periodic use.

Usually 4 - 6 mg of mitomycin C Kiovo are prescribed intravenously 1 - 2 times a week.

Sequential use.

Usually 2 mg of mitomycin C Kiovo is prescribed intravenously once a day.

Periodic use of a large dose.

Usually prescribed intravenously 10 - 30 mg of mitomycin 1 - 3 (or more) times a week.

Simultaneous use with other antineoplastic drugs.

Usually used 2 - 4 mg mitomycin 1 - 2 times a week in combination with other antineoplastic agents.

Preparation of solution for injection.

The drug is dissolved directly in the bottle in the ratio of 5 ml of distilled water for injection 2 mg of mitomycin C Kiovo. Administered as a slow injection.

Bladder cancer.

Usually, to prevent relapses, 4 - 10 mg of mitomycin are prescribed into the bladder daily or every 2 days. For therapeutic purposes, 10 - 40 mg of mitomycin C is administered into the urinary bladder 1 time per day. The dose can be adjusted according to the patient's age and the severity of symptoms.

If necessary,Mitomycin can also be used intra-arterial, intramedullary, intrapleural and intraperitoneal at a dosage of 2 - 10 mg daily. The dose can be divided depending on the patient's age and the severity of symptoms.

adverse reactions

Hematological complications:leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, hemorrhage, anemia (rarely - microangiopathic hemolytic anemia).

Liver:rarely - liver dysfunction. Kidneys:hemolytic uremic syndrome or proteinuria, hematuria, edema. Gastrointestinal tract:anorexia, nausea and vomiting, stomatitis.

Allergic reactions:rash.

Urinary system: cystitis, hematuria or bladder atrophy caused by instillation therapy of the bladder. Respiratory system:interstitial pneumonia and pulmonary fibrosis.

Others:rarely - symptoms of malaise, alopecia.

Overdose

Possible increased Adverse reactions. Treatment is symptomatic.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy, the drug is contraindicated, as there are reports of possible embryotoxic effects of mitomycin.

Breastfeeding should be stopped during treatment.

Children

The drug is not prescribed to children.

Special safety measures

Under constant medical supervision, the drug is used in patients:

  • with impaired liver function;
  • with impaired renal function;
  • with inhibition of bone marrow hematopoiesis;
  • with disorders caused by infectious diseases
  • with chicken pox (deadly complications can occur).

Features of use

The drug is used in specialized conditions medical institutions. Introduction should be carried out with caution to prevent extravasation of the drug causing sclerosis or tissue necrosis.

To avoid angialgia, phlebitis and thrombosis, the drug should be administered as slowly as possible, paying careful attention to the choice of site and method of injection.
